Kerrier Leisure operates within the Council's Portfolio for Leisure, Arts and Culture. The team provides many valuable services to the local community. The new edition of the 'Out There' brochure detailing all the Leisure Team's facilities, events & activities is available to download on the right of this page or you can pick up a copy at various locations including Helston Sports Centre, Helston Folk Museum, local libraries and many more venues throughout the district. The Sports Development team provide information and guidance for local sports clubs and individuals to help the local community be more active. The team works to advocate, facilitate and directly deliver initiatives that increase opportunities and contribute to the health & wellbeing of the whole comunity.

The European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages was designed to protect regional and minority languages as part of Europe's cultural heritage. The Charter aims to not only preserve, but also develop languages as a living facet of our cultural identity. In November 2002 Cornish was recognised by the UK Government as falling under Part II of the Charter.
Phase 1 of improvements at Coronation Park, Helston were completed early in 2007. This included the creation of a new attractive cafe/amenity building, play space, pathways, trees and a relocated skate park.

Providing a unique and uncommercialised insight into the lives and history of the people of Helston and the Lizard area.
Helston Sports Centre offers a variety of facilities and activities for the local community and visitors to the area. The six lane 25-metre indoor swimming pool provides a facility for public swimming, lessons, club training, lifeguard courses and Aquafit classes; and the 30 piece gym, free-weights room and separate group fitness studio provide customers with great reasons to keep fit and meet up with friends.

Helston Triathlon took place on Sunday May 11th in glorious sunshine for the fourth year. Over 220 triathletes braved the hot weather to complete the 400m swim, 16.5 mile bike and 3.5 mile run.
